Tropical bohemian wedding: Brittney & Gabriel

It was in the winter of this year when I received an email from Brittney, asking me if I would be able to create wedding invitations for her wedding. She shared with me that her dream was to have a tropical bohemian wedding in the ever-so-cold Canada. Lots of color, tropical vibes and wild florals was on her invitation wish list. And of course, I am not the one to turn down something that sounds vibrant, colorful, and fun, am I? It became apparent to me that Brittney and Gabriel were one of those couples who like to march to the beat of their own drum. For instance, they completely ignored traditions and wrote their own fun poem for the invitation. I mean, how fun and creative is that?

Oh, and if writing her own poem wasn’t enough to convince me that Brittney and I are total soul sisters, she also told me this: “I wanted my wedding to be as earthy and as tropical as possible. I have always had an inner hippie so I think that was part of it.” Her wedding had indeed very hippie, tropical and earthy vibes– from the tropical bohemian wedding invitations, to a gorgeous colorful bridal bouquet, all the way to the laid back, beach-style wedding dress. And I know I might have poked a little fun at Canada earlier (sorry, Northern sister, but I am not a fan of thecold!), the views and the nature setting were absolutely stunning!

Brittney & Gabriel’s love storyBecause I am a nosy person, I -of course- I asked Brittney to share their love story with me. And because Brittney is a one cool gal, she obliged.

Gabriel and I met in high school and dated for about a year. Then after we graduated, we broke up. We spent 5 years apart, always getting in touch or visiting over the years. Then we both were single again and the timing was perfect. We got engaged traveling in Colombia. We got our rings made there and designed them together to match- they look absolutely amazing! Gabriel proposed on April 23, 2015 at this beautiful restaurant on the water.  He put the ring in a purse and once I pulled it out,  I said ” I have been waiting for this!”  To celebrate the best night of our lives, we rode a horse and carriage through the center of Cartagena and drank champagne. It was truly magical.”

Brittney asked for a purple envelope, which worked really well with the overall design and color palette. The invitation was printed on a linen paper- a perfect choice for this type of design.
