I have been designing invitations for two years, and during that time I have never created anything for myself (gasp!). So when by baby was born, I knew that this was my chance to go all out. My vision was to create a trifold announcement with a custom crest on the opening page and with a mix of photos and cute illustrations throughout.
Yes, my newborn has her own crest. Like royalty. Because she is literally the queen of our house right now. It’s her world and we are just living in it!
If I had to pick a description of the overall theme, it would be “sweet elephant”. Elephants are one of my favorite animals (although if I had to pick an Animagus or a Patronus, I’d totally be a mountain cat), so I mixed elephant illustrations with pretty pink flowers and a whole bunch of photos.
We had our photos done by a hospital photographer. I was told mixed things about hospital photography (ranging from great to awful) but I have to say that my experience with them was really good. The photos were pretty, and the photographer worked really well with the baby. Plus, it was all really quick and convenient, and if you need something after 30 hours of labor, it is convenience!
Btw, the elephant outfit that she was wearing for the shoot totally doesn’t fit anymore. It’s true what they say- they grow up so fast!
Anyway, welcome to the world, Mira Marketa Horton. We LOVE YOU.
Xx, Marketa
